HSHS St. Francis Hospital

As the new school year begins and student athletes spend much of their time practicing to play games and compete, HSHS St. Francis Hospital encourages athletes and parents to exercise caution in order to avoid sports-related injuries. 

Cancer affects more than one thousand people in Montgomery County and many more in the surrounding communities who must travel to receive the care they need—often being away from their home for eight hours or more. In response to an identified community need, HSHS St. Francis Hospital is opening a cancer care center to provide patients with oncology treatment close to home. It will be located on the fourth floor of the hospital.

Take Charge of Your Diabetes is a six-week workshop for people with diabetes, pre-diabetes and caretakers. The program will be held on Tuesdays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 at HSHS St. Francis Hospital. 

HSHS St. Francis Hospital has treated at least three people for injuries sustained while playing the popular cell phone app game, “Pokémon GO.” 

At its educational conference and annual meeting on August 11 in Effingham, the Illinois Rural Health Association presented its 2016 Rural Health Award of Merit to the Illinois Telehealth Network (ITN).  HSHS St. Francis Hospital helped launch ITN, and is one of 23 ITN members honored with this award. 

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and HSHS St. Francis Hospital wants to ensure that you know the risks and get appropriately screened for skin cancer.
