Healthy is FUN!

A healthy food for the holidays cooking demonstration will be the next in the series of classes at HSHS St. Francis Hospital. The new class series of Healthy is Fun classes began in October. The next class will be held at the hospital on Thurs., Nov. 16 in the cafeteria. The cooking demonstration will be given by hospital colleagues Amy Cooper, director of food and nutrition services; and Jennifer Becker, RD, dietitian. Meghan Bertolino, community outreach facilitator at the hospital said, “The purpose of these Healthy is Fun classes are to have an informational health topic presented as well as something fun to do after the presentation. We wanted individuals to be able to attend the sessions, perhaps bring a friend or two and to just get out and enjoy themselves. Maybe they will learn a new, fun skill and have some laughter too.” Bertolino stated that individuals may attend one or all. She said there is a small $5 fee for each class to cover supplies and that registration is preferred. Refreshments will be served. Everyone who attends will receive a food-prep apron. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given away. The final Healthy is Fun class for 2017 -- Stress-Free Holidays -- will be held on Thurs., Dec. 14 from 5-6:30 p.m. Bridgette Rolens, MA, BSOT, mind-body skills instructor at HSHS St. John’s Hospital will be the guest speaker. Following her presentation will be a fun gift wrapping demonstration. Individuals may attend one or all classes. Refreshments will be served and there is a fee of $5 for each session.
