HSHS St. Francis Hospital Offers Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

The Junior Volunteer program at HSHS St. Francis Hospital again will offer service opportunities to area teens this summer.

Each applicant must be (1) a high school student maintaining at least a “C” average, (2) a minimum of 14 years of age by June 1, and (3) willing to volunteer at least two hours per week during the summer program. Junior Volunteers will perform a variety of duties in various hospital departments.

Registration will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the hospital lobby. A parent or guardian should accompany the volunteer to registration to assist in completing forms, confirm available work times, and sign a written consent and a statement of good health. Those unable to attend must contact the hospital at 324-8678 for registration forms.

For the safety of our patients, our colleagues and our volunteers, students will be required to present proof of immunizations for MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella (chicken pox).

Each Junior Volunteer will need to purchase a shirt at a cost of $16. Those who still have their shirts from previous years’ programs may use those.

Mandatory Hospital orientation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Attendance at orientation is a requirement in order to participate in the program.

A limited number of positions will be available. For more information, contact Melissa Leonard at (217)324-8678.
